A dogs best friend... and mine

This is my horse, Country Girl. She is a Arabian. I've had her for 10 years. She was given to me by a friend of my sisters who had taken over the care of her and her 2 daughters that were pretty much forgotton and abandoned by their owners. I guess she figured all the other horse owners where they were all kept their horses wouldn't let Country and her daughters go hungry or neglected. Well she was right. Eventually though as horse care is not an inexpensive "hobby" for some, a living for others. Us though, enjoyment, pleasure, hobby if you will, but just there's that feeling you never can quite describe by having a horse. They are truly magnificent creatures that God graced us with. But back to my story of Country, to make it short, I took Country, my sister took one of her daughters, and the friend officially took the youngest daughter. All were beautiful white, dapple Arabians. Country was blind in one eye, due to that awful word "neglect". We think that possibly she stuck a stick in it or something to that effect, and it was never treated and so blindness ensued. But she learned to live with it, don't really know how long she was that way before I got her. We have gone on many a ride though. Different towns, different trails, camping overnight. She's been a trooper and a joy to ride. She could certainly outdo one in a whole group if need be with her energetic energy and spirit. She's so gentle a child could crawl under her. Dogs can sit right beside her as this picture I took today. It's like Boo, the yellow dog, is watching over Country. Not to mention they love that sweetfeed she was eating! Country is 23, 24, somewhere around there. Has had a rough last year and I dread the on-coming of this winter. Last winter she got sick alot. If you know anything about colic, she got alot of it. She also has a disease we suspect called Cushins. That is something that will throw your whole system off. Older horses are known to get it. They don't shed their hair for one. But now she's had stomach problems for a few weeks, and I have talked to the vet, got medicine from the vet, given her home remedy's, and added specials to her food.
I don't know if all this will work, it is a work in progress.
I love this horse. She is such a sweet Country girl.
